Floor insulation
Three applications
- Thermal insulation for the ground floor: insulation boards combined with styrobet (alternative to sprayed PUR)
- Thermal insulation layer: Isobet and Styrobet
- Thermal and acoustic insulation for intermediate floors in flats: Isobet-Plus

Thermal insulation for the ground floor
Styrobet can be used in combination with EPS boards for ground-floor insulation, a system that is 100% recyclable and more environmentally friendly than systems such as sprayed polyurethane.
Unevenness in the substrate is smoothed out with Styrobet, above which the EPS boards are placed at an angle. Cut-outs for pipework or protruding building elements are cut in the first layer of EPS and filled with Styrobet. The next layers can be placed on top of this. The total thickness of the insulation package is determined per project according to the EPB requirement.

Thermal insulation
Isobet and Styrobet are lightweight insulating mortars composed of recycled EPS granules, vermiculite, cement as a binding agent and aggregates to obtain better properties.
This floor insulation is usually used as a thermal filling layer for unevenness, level differences and pipe filling, e.g. intermediate floors of apartment buildings. The difference between the two products:
Isobet is a product installed only by Thiers-Horizon as a certified contractor.
Styrobet is a product packaged and sold ready-to-use by manufacturer Pirobouw. During mixing of the ingredients, only water needs to be added.

Completion inequalities
Isobet and Styrobet is a convenient filling out of unevennesses and pipes. A common problem with floors is the tangle of electricity, water and heating pipes. To insulate the floor with a “classic” insulation board, a levelling screed must first be placed. Isobet and Styrobet combine the two layers: levelling and insulation in one layer.
Perfect floor insulation
Cold bridges are excluded with Isobet and Styrobet.
This is because the whole is applied seamlessly and without interruption. Finishing against walls and around pipes is also perfectly possible. The insulation value depends on the feasible thickness, which is examined per project.
Quality assurance
Isobet and Styrobet have been installed for 55 years.
This guarantees consistent, high quality.
Acoustic insulation
Isobet-Plus is a system for both thermal and acoustic insulation of intermediate floors. The Isobet-Plus system is obtained by placing a specially developed acoustic insulating foil on top of the Isobet layer.
Perfect sound insulation
The Isobet-Plus system is a perfect translation into practice of the principle of floating screeds. Isobet-Plus reduces impact noise by 27 dB (D Lw = 27 dB EN ISO 717).
Quality assurance
To guarantee that each floor is perfectly executed, the Isobet-Plus system is installed exclusively by the authorised installation company Thiers-Horizon. After all, with impact sound insulation, it is the details that make the insulation quality.
Environmentally conscious
Due to its lower weight compared to sand-cement screed, the transport of insulating mortars is less harmful to the environment.
Moreover, the installation of the insulating mortars does not release any gases that could be a nuisance or harmful to those handling the product or to the environment.
Recycling EPS waste
More than 80% of the volume of Pirotherm mortar consists of recycled EPS granules from isomo (EPS) packaging.
This means a reduction of the EPS waste mountain; EPS waste is usually regarded as a problem waste that is often still incinerated.
Saving natural resources
The reuse of EPS packaging also means savings in terms of natural resources consumed, in contrast to sprayed foams, for example, which require the use of new raw materials.
